Did you provide examples, details, resources, documentation?

Are your comments reflective of and relevant to the Unit readings?
My July 22, 2002 at 10:10 PM posting answers the question, For what
purpose do we as a society educate? Under my summary I said, I have
researched the goals of education from several different sources and
countries. The list seems to me to indicate that the broad goals
of education are pretty much universal, and that they include vocational,
civic, personal, and academic goals. (These conclusions were based
on the URLs under resources and documentation.)
Did you both ask and answer questions?
An example question I asked in my post test scores for citizenship
Mon Jul 22 2002 10:31 PM I asked, How
about the corporate guys and gals who bail out of successful six figure
incomes in favor of teaching?
In Re: Education and Business posted
Mon Jul 22 2002 10:24 PM I asked, Without these classes, how
will they learn about applying the literary artifices such as metaphors
and similes, etc that are a richer form of communication than the technical
writing we tend toward now?
As for answering questions, my post test scores for citizenship
Mon Jul 22 2002 was my reply to Why do
we Educate? Post by Bodnar, Amy Mon
Jul 22 2002 12:01 PM In my reply I said, The research I did
on the goals of education indicate that we as a society care about civics
as much as about economics and vocations. I believe that in spite of
the emphasis that many of us place on education for the purpose of getting
a job, that there will always be plenty of people who place emphasis
on a higher purpose, for that is part of the human condition. How about
the corporate guys and gals who bail out of successful six figure incomes
in favor of teaching? All is not lost yet.
Were your comments substantive or were there
more short agreement statements than fully explanatory or descriptive
comments? (Agreement is fine but comments need to be substantiated with
resources and/or personal experience).
The shortest reply I posted was that already shown above, test scores
for citizenship Mon Jul 22 2002. This posting had 94 words. So clearly,
I met or exceeded this requirement as well.
Did you engage in conversation with one or more classmates on a topic
or issue related to this unit? (Replies to all responses directed to
you).
Geoffrey Cain made an original posting on Sun Jul 21 2002 4:57 PM titled
Education and Business. I replied to that on Sun Jul 21 2002 7:33 PM
with the same title but Re in front. He responded again on Sun Jul 21
2002 9:25 PM, and I made the final posting on this subject between us
on Mon Jul 22 2002 10:24 PM
How many times did you post to the discussion? (1-2 original posts
addressing the topic and 4-5 responses to classmates is average).
I met or exceeded your stated averages on both original and responses.
I posted two original postings, and 6 response postings.
When did you post to the discussion? (Posting late in the week
decreases the opportunities for meaningful discussion).
I made my eight postings over a 10-day period, from Fri Jul 12 2002
9:15 PM until Mon Jul 22 2002 10:46 PM I actually made postings on five
different days during this 10 day period, (some would call this 11 days).
I made postings on July 12, 13, 19, 21, and the 22nd. Double-checking
the Unit 3 assignments, I see that it had a July 28, 2002 end date and
no other specific end date for this assignment. My classmates then had
at least 6 more days to respond to my postings, meeting all of the requirements
for this section of the rubric.
Conclusion and Grade Recommendation
In conclusion, I believe I have met the requirements for this assignment
rather than the 20 points I now have and hope you agree and upgrade
it.
Sincerely,
Philip Pond
