Darwin’s concept of evolution and survival of the fittest seems appropriate
in answer to this.
Can an institution that provides education at a cost of $12,500 per student
compete against an institution that provides the same quality education for
$350 per student per year? (Capper and Potashnik, 1998).
Can faculty or administrators who do not make the adjustment be as valuable
as those who do?
What happened to the musketeers when the repeating rifles were introduced?
Did bows and arrows conquer gunpowder?
Do you want to go to pay $12,500 per year in tuition to go to school because
there is a personable instructor when you can pay substantially less and get
the same quality degree? (Capper and Potashnik, 1998).
That is what the evidence says. And those that are resisting, are unintentionally
having these effects.
There are huge savings in reproduction, delivery, classroom, real estate,
and transportation costs that can be saved with online education, and that
they can be done, mean they will be done.
