VARK
Comment:
This class covers different topics in music. It’s
delivery contains all four elements of the VARK inventory. However, it is only
the kinesthetic area I'd like to stress. The kinesthetic component that I would
like to look at is from the exercises of this course. Here is an example:
Instruction - Click on "Musical Systems" section, click on
"Major/Minor Scale", then click on either
"major" or "minor" scale and click on "Exercise".
Students learn to construct intervals. Students click and drag the correct
musical note to the answer staff and click the "play" button to hear
the interval they construct. I am impressed by the technology. Integrating this
kind of kinesthetic exercises in my online class is not easy. First of all, I
need to learn what kind of technology is behind the scene or it is just a kind
of software.
Accessibility
As far as accessibility is concerned, this site does not even pass Priority 1 guideline, it does not have title for each frame, does not have alternative contents for each Script, and style sheets are not supported. All in all, this online course is not disability friendly, especially for the visually impaired students.
